Although there are no specific prerequisites for this qualification, applicants must meet the following entry requirements to gain admission to the training program:
  • Age Requirement:
  • Language and Literacy Skills: Applicants should have sound language and literacy skills, which is typically equivalent to completing Year 12 English or a comparable level of proficiency.
  • Computer Skills: Applicants need to possess basic computer skills, including familiarity with using computers and standard software applications.

  • Evidence of English proficiency within the last 3 years from one of the following:
  • International English Language Testing System 5.5 or above
  • TOFEL internet-based test 46 or above
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (Certificate in Advanced English) 162 or above
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) 42 or above
  • - Occupational English Test B for each test component
OR
  • - be able to provide any of the following evidence of English Language competence
  • that they were educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country.
  • that they have successfully completed their Year 12 or equivalent in English Language.
  • Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE): A formal document verifying your admission and studying full time with us.
  • Access to the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Workplace Logbook of 152 Hours: Maintain a logbook documenting a minimum of 152 hours of workplace experience.
  • Letter to the Organization: Submit a formal letter requesting work placement opportunity to the relevant organization
  • Insurance for Voluntary Work: Ensure coverage through insurance for any voluntary work undertaken.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the community services sector, including the various support programs and services available to people in need.
  • Develop the ability to deliver personalized, client-centered care, ensuring that services meet the unique needs and preferences of each individual.
  • Acquire the skills necessary for case work and case management, including intake assessments, developing care plans, and supporting clients through their journeys.
  • Understand the legal and ethical standards relevant to the community services sector, including confidentiality, duty of care, mandatory reporting, and safeguarding.
  • Develop strong communication and interpersonal skills, allowing effective interactions with clients, their families, colleagues, and external service providers.
  • • Learn to work effectively with diverse client populations, including people from different cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Understand how to advocate for clients’ rights, helping them access necessary services, and empowering them to make informed decisions about their care and lives.
  • Learn to work with individuals who have complex needs, such as those with mental health issues, disabilities, homelessness, or victims of domestic violence.
  • Gain skills in crisis intervention and conflict resolution to handle emergency situations, de-escalate conflicts, and provide appropriate support in high-stress environments.
